Blush Placement Techniques for Different Face Shapes

Blush is one of those magical makeup products that can transform your look. Its placement, however, is crucial in defining and enhancing your facial features. We're avoiding 80's style blush placement and using blush to appear younger, more sculpted, alter your face shape by tricking the eye, or simply add a touch of color to your complexion. 

Horizontal Blush Placement

What is horizontal blush placement? Apply blush in a horizontal line from one cheek, across the nose, to the other cheek. This technique draws attention to the middle of the face, creating the illusion of a shorter, more compact facial structure. You would want to use this technique if you have a longer, more oval face shapes.

Vertical Blush Placement

Vertical blush placement is applied in a vertical line and is used to create a slimming effect. Apply blush on the apples of the cheek and blend downward.

Diagonal Blush Placement

Apply blush in a diagonal line from the apples of the cheeks towards the hairline. This technique helps elongate the face and create a more contoured look. Diagonal blush placement is great if you have a rounder face shape.
