Highlighter Makeup

Highlighter makeup is the perfect product for anyone who wants to add an extra glow to their complexion. Whether you want to dust highlighter powder at the end of your makeup routine or start with a liquid highlighter primer, we have the glow products you need.

If you prefer to use liquid highlighter instead of a powder, you have a little more flexibility on when you should apply it. For starters, you can apply an illuminating primer as a highlighted base you can build on with foundation and concealer. You can also apply a highlighting blush as your final step before setting with translucent setting powder. It’s also a great product to keep in your bag for dewy, glowy touch-ups throughout the day.

Highlighter makeup is often used as either a primer or as a finishing touch. Depending on the look you’re going for, you can start with a highlighting primer to create a lit-from-within-glow, or you can dab on your cheekbones after applying matte products to bring a little life back to the skin.

Oftentimes, highlighter makeup is applied to the high points of the face: Cheekbones, temples, brow bone, and bridge of the nose. This is done to brighten certain features of your face, highlight bone structure, and create the perception of depth.

Applying liquid highlighter is easier than you may think. Simply, add a little bit of product to the back of your hand then warm it up with your dominant finger. Pat the highlighter into place (cheekbones, brow bone, etc), starting with a very minimal amount before adding more. 

Highlighter powder accentuates several makeup looks. It’s especially impactful when creating a no-makeup makeup look, as the focus is really on the skin for that. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t apply highlighter powder to a full glam look; it’s needed there, too. Adding a little glow is never a bad idea.

Just like highlighter powder, a liquid highlighter can enhance so many different looks. Whether you choose to wear liquid or powder is entirely up to you and your skin type. For those with dry skin, you may find a liquid highlighter works better, whereas someone with oily skin may prefer a powder highlighter.
