    Something Changed

    I have used Butter Drench for years, Bare Minerals changed the formula and does not moisturize my skin. The cream stays on the surface and I can feel this when showering in the morning.

    Formula is different, but the design is the same.

    I have used this butter drench cream for years. It was the best. But the other day I started using a new container and my face has broken out with a rash. Only after poking around did I discover it was because the formula had changed. I did notice the product was whiter and thinner than usual (I still had my previous container to compare) and then one line of small text on the back of the container that used to say the manufacturing was in the US, and now says it is in France. I didn't change anything else in my routine, so I'm confident my skin just reacted to the changes in the product.

    I suspect some backlash was expected with a new formulation and the change was made anyway because of financial/supply chain reasons. That feels understandable to me and no big deal really. But the disappointment I have comes from the lack of change in the packaging or design on the container to hint that "hey, our product is revamped!" I just went about my daily routine and it took a painful reaction in my face to realize something had changed. I find that lack of communication to be disingenuous and the trust I had in Bare Minerals offerings is now lost.

    Not the same

    I’ve been using this moisturizer for over 10 years. It is definitely not the same. It is a bright white and a different texture. So disappointed

    The new formula is so disappointing

    I thought it was just me, that somehow my old bottles were the color and the smell was stronger because I bought several bottles. But now I read others' comments and am feeling much that I am not crazy. The new smell and thickness are horrible, it doesn't work the same. I have an autoimmune disorder that gives me very dry skin along with rosacea. Can you go back to your old suppliers and old formula? Sadly, I will have to find a new cream if you cannot return to the old formula.

    So disheartened

    My husband and I have been using Butter Drench for yearssss, as it’s the only moisturiser that didn’t make either of us break out. My husband has acne prone skin, so this was a real blessing. I have very tolerant skin, and this means I can use more active ingredients like retinol, BHA/AHAs, vitamin C, etc. Any time we tried to switch away from the Butter Drench our skin would immediately react differently. Over the years I’ve recommended this moisturiser to allll of my friends, and they’ve all had only positive things to say about it. This was my literal holy grail product.

    There was a period of a few months where Butter Drench was almost impossible to find in store, and any time we did order it, we’d order 3-4 to make sure we never ran out.

    Recently, we did exactly this, and when I opened our most recently purchased Butter Drench, we immediately noticed that the colour, texture, and smell was different to earlier jars. There was a previously slight butter colour, it’s now white. The smell used to have (at least to my nose) a vanilla/citrus smell; it’s now Nivea adjacent. The texture is more watery. In the grand scene of things these are relatively nominal, so my husband and I have continued to use the new formulation. I am so so disappointed to say it doesn’t work the same way. It lacks the creamy, melt into your skin essence that it used to have. Maybe this is just me, but it would literally smooth my irritated skin overnight. Doesn’t work that way anymore. I don’t…
