Contour makeup is a technique that uses makeup products in shades slightly lighter and darker than your natural skin tone to help create highlights and shadows to sculpt the face. An easy way to achieve this look is with a brightening concealer and bronzer.
If you want to contour makeup, start by brightening areas under your eyes, along the T-zone, and in the hollows of your cheeks. Once blended, apply bronzer or contour powder in the areas along your cheekbone, forehead, and jawline. After blending everything out, you’ll notice a more chiseled effect.
Start by smiling and notice where your cheeks are at their fullest–this is known as “the apple of your cheeks.” Use the blush makeup of choice (powder or cream) and apply in the direct center of the apple. Diffuse out with a brush or your fingertips for an effortlessly flushed look.
If you have red cheeks, try using a color correcting concealer over your full-coverage foundation. You’ll instantly notice a more even skin tone which you can then apply blush or bronzer over top to add dimension and needed color.
For contouring: Use an angled brush like the Blooming Blush Brush. Try the Supreme Finisher Brush for applying Highlighters and Bronzers.
Natural Glow: A light application of blush on the apples of the cheeks and a touch of highlighter on the cheekbones can create a fresh, everyday look.
Sculpted and Defined: Using contouring to shape the face and enhance facial features, paired with blush for color and highlighter for added glow.
Dramatic Look: For special occasions, you can use deeper contour shades and more pronounced blush and highlighter to create a striking and bold makeup look.
All of BareMinerals' makeup adheres to clean beauty standards. We use high-quality ingredients that are good for your skin and avoid harsh chemicals. Our products are formulated without parabens, phthalates, and other potentially harmful ingredients. We also ensure that our products are cruelty-free.
If you want to make your cheeks appear fuller, apply blush around the apples of the cheeks and a little below. Starting between your hairline and lips, apply the blush in a circular motion.
When it comes to cheek makeup, there is cream blush, powder blush, bronzing powder, highlighter makeup–the list goes on. And with so many options, you can create the perfect look by layering liquid formulas with powders, mixing bronzers with blush, or opting for just a light dusting of highlighter. There are no rules to makeup, it’s just about doing what makes you feel the most confident.
We like to use bronzer makeup or bronzing powder before applying blush. After applying foundation and concealer, you can sweep a powder bronzer along your cheekbones and forehead to create a sunkissed look. From there, add a dab of pink-y blush on the apples of your cheeks for the perfect flush of color.
Highlighter powder is a great product to have in your daily makeup bag as it’s an easy way to add brightness to the inner eyes, brow bone, and on the top of cheekbones. But if you want to elevate your highlighter makeup, try our Liquid Blush Highlighter hybrid. This gel cream blends the best of blush and highlighter so you can get the same effect with one product.
